Incredible Two-Day Tour Experience in Kathmandu with Mani from Three Jewels Adventures

I recently had the pleasure of spending two unforgettable days touring Kathmandu with Mani from Three Jewels Adventures, and I cannot recommend him highly enough. From start to finish, Mani was professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly personable, truly the ideal guide for anyone wanting to explore the rich culture and hidden gems of Nepal’s capital.

What sets Mani apart is his deep understanding of Kathmandu's history, culture, and spiritual significance. Whether we were wandering through the ancient streets of Patan Durbar Square, exploring the sacred Boudhanath Stupa, or soaking in the views at Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), Mani’s storytelling and insights brought each location to life. His passion for Nepalese heritage is truly infectious.

The tour was thoughtfully organized, perfectly paced, and tailored to my interests. Mani was always punctual, flexible, and full of great local recommendations, from the best spots for authentic momos to peaceful places to take in the views. I also appreciated how respectful and mindful he was when guiding through temples and sacred sites.

If you are visiting Kathmandu and want a guided experience that goes beyond the typical tourist path, Three Jewels Adventures is the company to choose. Mani is not just a guide, he’s a cultural ambassador who made my trip incredibly memorable. I left with a deeper appreciation of Nepal and can’t wait to return.

I wholeheartedly recommend Three Jewels for your trekking adventure in Nepal.

We booked with Amber and the team based on a friend's recommendation, and our experience on the ground was fantastic. All we had to do was get ourselves to Kathmandu—Three Jewels took care of everything else.

With our amazing guide, Pema Lamu Tamang, we spent 16 days trekking the ‘Three Passes’ in Sagarmatha National Park. It was incredible to have a female guide leading the way—such an inspiration for my daughter on the trip.

When unpredictable mountain weather caused issues, Pema and the team worked tirelessly to adapt the plan. Likewise, they navigated the nuances of the ‘Nepal factor’ with professionalism and expertise.

Nepal is a beautiful country that offers everything a human needs on a soul level: nature, adventures, culture, history until spiritual experience.
And our Nepal trip couldn't be so happening and memorable without having Three Jewels Adventures made it happen for us!

Million thanks to MANI. He put all of his time & hard work for 4 months going back and forth fine tuning our personal itineraries exploring Nepal in our way.

We booked 3 days trip including Kathmandu City Tour, rafting on our way to Pokhara and Pokhara city tour visiting the caves.

Being the first Indonesian client, that doesn't discount the true Nepali hospitality we experienced in a foreign country.

All the reviews before agreed to our experience perfectly.

I had a wonderful time during my Manaslu circuit organised by Three Jewels. Everything was top notch. It started with great communication with Amber and he was very helpful in matching the right trek to the experience i was after. They certainly delivered! I was collected from Kathmandu airport by Nursang, the fantastic, knowledgeable and helpful guide for my trip. The next day we set off for Khorlabesi, where we’d start the trip. Nursang took me to villages and guesthouses less visited by tourists and always selected spots with great food along the way (i think i became somewhat of a dal bhat connoisseur during this trip). He knew i appreciated experiencing the culture and a good physical challenge so he took me on some great side trips (Pung Gyen Gompa was a highlight!). In the end I wasn’t too keen on the overnight stay in Dharamsala mostly because of the altitude but also it being a bit of a tourist bottleneck before Larke La and Nursang fully adjusted my itinerary on the spot for this. (Hot tip: start your trekking days early, you’ll get the best views of the mountains and will run into hardly anyone). Transport to and from Kathmandu, on some pretty rough roads, went very smooth as there was always a driver waiting. Back in Kathmandu they also organised a fantastic cultural city tour for half a day before i rested up to catch my flight back home. All in all a seamless itinerary and hats off to Amber for organising and Nursang for executing. Can’t recommend Three Jewels enough! Thank you for the unforgettable experience!

I went on a 10 day trek with my sister in Langtang Valley and had an amazing time thanks to Three Jewels Adventures.

Our guide Amber is one of the kindest people you will ever have the pleasure of meeting. He is warm, understanding, and really took the time to ensure we felt super comfortable throughout our journey. He also has deep knowledge of Himalayan culture and was happy to answer all questions (no matter how silly they were) with the sort of information you wouldn’t be able to find in regular travel books! Be sure to ask him about his life stories and upbringing - you’ll feel nothing short of inspired.

One of the main highlights of our trek was sharing fresh Yak cheese with Yak cheese farmers near Lirung Glacier. Me and my sister would have never had the chance to experience this if we didn't have Amber to take us off the beaten track for a truly one of a kind adventure.

Amber and his team made it possible for us to have two amazing tours in Asia.  His attention to detail, his kindness, his vast knowledge of the area and respect for us and his fellow citizens was so apparent throughout.  Thanks to his knowledge, we ended up with a trek that was designed just for us and our preferences which included a cultural experience in addition to the ability to enjoy natural beauty. I hiked a less-traveled route from Pokhara suggested by guide Amber Tamang and had the most incredible experience.  When you arrive in Nepal, it can be overwhelming to choose from the many guides and offers, but a good guide is really important, considering you will spend many days and nights with this person!

I asked Amber to plan a 4-night 5 day journey off the beaten trail, and he really delivered for my fitness level, budget, and time allowance. He booked my bus from Kathmandu Bouddha area to Pokhara and sat on a few calls with me to consider gear and answer all of my packing and travel questions. He even met me at my hotel in Pokhara the night before our trek to make sure I had all of the right gear. I was blown away by the humility, wisdom, nurturance and grounded nature Amber shows up with- he made me feel right at home in Nepal.

To speak to the trek he planned, and my desire to experience a less-touristy trail: Amber really tried to keep costs low for me as I was intent on hiking alone with guide (if you have more guests the price of jeeps and guide salary are cheaper FYI). He gave me an itemized breakdown of the cost and was very transparent about all of the logistics and financials. The Trek: we began at Ghandruk, reached Muldai peak and ended up at hot springs (with many secret spots, insiders-only knowledge about perfect timing, waterfalls and Rhododendron trees to gawk at along the way). He really delivered an “off-the-beaten trail” trek: sometimes we were the only two guests in the teahouses! This transformed what would have been a touristy experience into what felt like a sweet homestay. It was divine. I enjoyed the experience learning from Amber so much that I also booked his “Old Kathmandu City Tour” and met back up with he and his daughter when I was in Kathmandu. Amber Tamang and the guides at family-operated, Three Jewels Adventures, really know the trails, tea houses, history, and environment in the Himalayas. They’ve been doing it for decades and it shows. As a solo-traveling woman, it is important to me to feel safe and comfortable. That’s why, when a friend who trekked with Amber over ten years ago (and had an amazing experience) suggested I contact him, I did so immediately. Amber is a business owner, father and family-oriented man who is well-versed in the rich and ancient indigenous culture and histories of Nepal. Amber studied history and archeology and it shows! I was thrilled that my many questions about culture, history and what we saw along the trail lead to inspiring conversations on our 5-day journey together.

I can’t imagine receiving a more rich or fulfilling experience with any other guide considering the depth of conversation we had and unique trails we hiked. Amber is an incredible heart-centered human and he felt like family very quickly. Thank you so much to Amber- I will be back!
